A large, fully illustrated vase depicting a landscape scene where trees line the edge of a pond. The dark greens and blacks of the foliage radiate downward as they are reflected in the still surface of the water, only broken up by a scattering of lily pads. The brown tint of the green leaves and grass indicates that the season is late summer, a time when the lush greenery of spring has been weathered by the sun’s glare but has not yet fallen into the arms of autumn’s embrace. This piece is a particular favorite of the artist.
