We hope you enjoy this limited release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Inspired by the 1920s Chang Glaze by Royal Doulton, Rookwood’s Exhibition of Color will feature bold and striking colors dripping and oozing from the tops of pots. Thick white glaze with splashes of random and melting colors will make these pieces wonderfully unique and inspiring. Each view and turn of the vase will unveil a new burst of color, thus the name of the release, The Exhibition of Color. Exciting and fresh, this is a modern and colorful interpretation of glaze art on Rookwood forms.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e The Exhibition of Color Rookwood small batch release is an innovative glaze treatment on hand thrown forms. Through research and development, various glazes were combined by our artists to create complex layering, dripping, and blending of glazes. Some vases were fired multiple times, with more glazes being added each time. Early combinations proved cannibalistic, colors disappearing in the kiln firing. Through repeated test trials, a basic glaze combination produced brilliant colors juxtaposed with white. Colors pulled and melted, evolving into true abstract art with pronounced and desired radical drips. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e This is glaze art that cannot be repeated due to multiple firings, application of additional glazes, and slope of form. The glaze blending during the melt of the firing makes each square inch of these vases unique, vases that are \u003ci\u003ebest seen in person and studied by turning and exploring the beauty\u003c\/i\u003e. Colors that are interesting, unique, and possibly reminiscent of perhaps, the seventies. Our only extra-large statement vase in the Exhibition of Color collection, this piece represents an outlier. But strange to say the most conservative piece is the outlier. The carved leaf design was meant to be treated with a drip glaze combination of colors; the colors then being allowed to move within the carved leaf area. The glaze was applied on the top half of the leaves, achieving subtle effects and a frosted look to the leaves. The classic nature of this vase is enhanced by the blue to green to blue matte glaze fade. Understated, subtle elegance.
